Who wouldn’t want to celebrate the Holidays in Napa? When everyone is running around in a hectic frenzy, Napa slows down. But even with a more peaceful pace, there’s still plenty to do and see; and smaller crowds at wineries mean a more personalized experience. Not only do the wineries host less visitors, but there will be shorter waits at top restaurants too. No matter where you go, Napa during the Holidays is a great idea!

St. Helena

St. Helena’s Main Street is a wonderful place to spend the day, and it definitely remains a must visit spot in December. Shops, restaurants and tasting rooms are all awaiting your visit. During the holidays, this small street gets dressed up for the season and the Main Street business district takes center stage. The beautiful, centuries-old street lamps get draped with joyful holiday décor. The trees get decked out and nativity and menorah displays are put up for everyone to enjoy. It’s festiveness will get even the biggest Grinch in your party into the holiday spirit!

Napa Valley Wine Train

The traditional Napa Wine Train gets decked out for the Holidays! Young and old will have a wonderful time on this 1.5 hour adventure. This special tour runs from Napa to Yountville and back and features Santa and his friends. Don’t miss this interactive Holiday treat! Get your tickets here: Napa Valley Wine Train

Downtown Napa

There’s no better time to visit Downtown Napa than the winter holidays! The official tree lighting ceremony is officiated by the town mayor. Local coffee shops and bakeries provide delicious sustenance – from hot chocolate to cupcakes – while the mayor lights the 29 foot tree! This free event is open to everyone.

After the tree lighting ceremony, it’s nothing but holiday cheer. The traditional Christmas Parade rolls down the Downtown street, where Napans decorate parade cars and horses with cheerful lights.

Make sure you don’t miss the free horse-drawn carriage rides throughout December. These depart from the Historic Napa Mill. If the carriages are busy (it’s a popular activity), try the charming holiday trolley instead. Rides are also free and the decked out trolley plays music of the season. Riders can hop on and off, or ride the entire loop.

Want to add humor this holiday? Then you can’t miss the Ugly Sweater Culinary Crawl in mid-December. During this fun walk, you will be able to experience Downtown Napa’s wine tasting rooms and restaurants, while taking in the sight of the town.

Wineries

Visiting wineries is a must when in Napa, and this remains true during the holiday season. Wineries are open through December and offer a wide array of regular and holiday-themed events. With the crowds being smaller, this is the perfect time to take in a special event, tasting or tour.
